Artist’s statement

I first began painting when interested by sculpture and miniature objects, life then gradually drew me towards jewellery.
Jewellery making is an artistic expression and remains closely related to my work in visual arts. I am inspired from nature and express myself using the lost wax reproduction, a traditional jewellery technique. The blueberry theme is a starting point to my work. I love the blueberry, this little wild fruit, unique and delicious, with its refined shape, seducing colors and roundness, natural and sensual altogether.
It is through manipulating the matter that I begin to give form to my work. I juxtapose precious metals, gold (18K, 14K, 10K) and sterling silver (oxidized or vermeil) with precious and non precious materials, such as pearls and glass, selected for their brilliance and lustre they provide. I proceed by adding or subtracting, like if each piece was part of a collage, a painting, or sculpture.
My jewellery develops into a delicate blueberry cluster, a kind of installation, a garden, a blueberry field. Entirely made by hand, in my workshop, my blueberries become earrings, brooches, necklaces, rings, pendants, pins and cufflinks. Each piece is an oeuvre d’art waiting to be worn.
